The Minister of Defense of Ukraine stated that the war is entering a protracted phase:

According to many indications, Russia is preparing for a long-term military operation. The war is entering a protracted phase. We see how in the Kherson region, in the Zaporizhzhya region, the Russian invaders are actively carrying out engineering and fortification work to move to defense if necessary. “

Also, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia is using about 167,000 personnel against Ukraine, including reserves.

The invaders deployed 91 BTGs to take part in attacks. They can draw another 55 BTGs from the reserve and after recovery within 1-2 months.

  1. What to be done?
Julia iotte, ‘a leading journalist’ ,born in Russia, has a realistic view. Total oil embargo By Europe, the biggest customer. Is it fair for the us to continue to pay Large amounts for a war of attrition?(my thought)
Why isn’t it being done? Meat grinder which May spread into Europe is less important than votes?Russia has more men, more equipment. Millions of people that are used to hard times Times. Julian says the that the majority of Russians believe “if we’re not being murdered in large numbers, we’re good!” They have nothing to lose. Average wealth is 800US. They have seen brutal conditions. They get no real information on the war. So they won’t object. The Computer savvy dissidents have left Russia. One or two free news sources remain. Putin’s advisers are even more hawkish than he. savvy decisions have led Russia. If Putin is taken out ,his successor to not look foolish, will double down on what Putin has done. There is one way out. Stop oil. Russia, according to Julia, is earning $1 billion a day from European consumption. The price of oil is going up. So Russia is actually doing better than it was before. Prices are down internally because of the embargo. Russians are doing better! Mastercard and Visa are still active locally. Loyalty to Russia and Army service is taught in the schoolS. As I have said, no true news from the war reaches the regular people. They are on the other side of the digital divide, anyway. Putin hasn’t got much longer to live, is one selfishly thought bright spot. Most men do not live till 70 , in Russia. Let him die a natural death. Not that we have much choice. Perhaps his dream of ‘Vladimir the Great, czar of the new Russian Empire, will die with him. But if the west really want to stop the war, although it will take at least a month , don’t pay Russia for any more oil.

This are Julia’s insights. She is a pessimist but Apparently pessimists are more often right. And she is on our side!
