Ukrainian volunteers literally can get a helicopter for the army to help defend the homeland
The Armed Forces of Ukraine received a “demilitarized” version of the German light helicopter Bo-105. Ukraine’s defenders will be able to use this helicopter to evacuate the wounded, especially since the Bo-105 has the appropriate maneuverability and a ramp for carrying the wounded.
A private entrepreneur Oleksandr Gromyko told about this on his Facebook page, who (according to his words) actually handed over this helicopter to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Bo-105 helicopter is essentially a German analogue of our Mi-2, both in terms of functionality and time of production. Serial production started in 1970 and lasted until 2001. Overall, about 1,200 vehicles of all military and civilian modifications were produced. The main operator was the German Bundeswehr, decommissioning the last Bo-105 only in 2019.
The manufacturer was the German concern Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm.
The Bo-105 helicopter was used in shock, reconnaissance and sanitary versions. As a strike Bo-105 can take up to 500 kg of combat payload, there are two suspension units for weapons, which could be attached to 8 TOW anti-tank missiles. As a sanitary version it can take on board up to 4 wounded soldiers on a stretcher, the helicopter consists of two crewmembers.
